Shopping in Szczecin!
You can save a lot on a shopping trip to Szczecin. Most brands are 10-30% cheaper, but on some goods it’s really possible to save a great deal. Products or services that are labour intensive to produce are very cheap. Many non-educated Poles are not earning more than 1.000 złoty net per month or about 1 euro per hour. Tips are therefore also a big part of their salary.

Szczecin has many outdoor markets where they are selling lots of imitation or no-name products at low prices. However, these markets are also visited by pickpockets. There are many modern, nice stores and big shopping malls that are more secure that you may know from other big European cities. They accept credit cards and the quality and service is very good.

Dentists!
A Polish dentist is just as good as a dentist from other European countries and many of them speak English. Many clinics offer a free pre-examination which is a good idea if you feel a little uncertain. However, there is no reason to feel that way. Szczecin has been a city of dentists for many years and Germans and Danes have long been coming to the city to get their teeth fixed and to save 30-70%. The equipment is among the most modern in Europe and the education level of the dentists is very high. Business with and in Poland!
This page is for those, who want to make business with or in Poland. Below you can read about “Selling products in Poland”, “Purchasing products in Poland” and “Production of products in Poland”.

Selling products in Poland
It can be difficult to penetrate the Polish market. To start a foreign company in Poland takes time and is often more financial demanding than expected. The laws still have not changed to the EU standards and there are many polish laws which are very strange for foreigners. Poland is an interesting market with more than 40 million people, but it’s important to know the market and the culture. Poles are very focused on the price and not as much on quality and characteristics and it can be very difficult if not impossible to penetrate the polish market without a good network. “Friendship” deals, recommendations, payment for the “right” information and connections are still a very important part in Poland.

It’s often an advantage to start with a polish partner, who has the “right” contacts, but even that is not easy. Many polish companies are offering “everything” and they can do “everything”, but is a good idea to be patient and evaluate, what the polish company can offer.

Purchasing products in Poland
There are many products that are interesting to buy in Poland. You can find a description of many of the products and services that are cheap in Poland in the STETTIN Restaurant & Shopping GUIDE but there are of course more. The polish
złoty has devaluated a lot the last couple of years which just made it even cheaper to buy products in Poland. The prices have increased a little since the entrance in the EU the 1st of May 2004, but you can still save a lot for the next few years.

Products or services that are labour intensive to produce are extremely cheap in Poland. There are many non-educated poles that have a net salary of 1.000 złoty or 1 euro per hour. If you want to buy products in Poland for re-sale then it’s a good idea to evaluate if they are labour intensive to produce. There are, of course, many product categories that are cheaper in Asia but it has to be considered that Poland is very close to the rest of Europe and part of EU.

You are welcome to call or write to us if you have a good product or a good idea and would like to penetrate the Polish market or buy a specific product or get it produced in Poland. For a small fee we help many people find the right partner and arrange a meeting with them. Our current network will guarantee you that you only will meet serious partners. We are offering Danish, German and English speaking interpreters if it should be necessary. We can also help you to make product and quality research, market research and create business plans. E-mail: Szczecin@investa.dk

It can be difficult to find the best stores or to communicate with the personnel in the stores. We hope that the STETTIN Restaurant & Shopping GUIDE will help you to find your way around. You can also book an English, German or Danish speaking guide who can show you the best stores and guide you around in the city.
